First, Elder Fire made a piece of crystal rock. He placed it in the forever sky, seven widths of his hand above the endless ocean.
Next, he made everything else: Thunder and his little Thunder children, Sun and her daughter, Moon and Stars, Man and Woman, Animals, Plants and Fish. Elder Fire put all but the water creatures upon the crystal rock and named the place Galanlati. He put the Fish in the Ocean, and they quickly spread out to the East, South,West and North.
As time passed, the crystal rock became crowded, for it was summer always and nothing ever died. Seeing the problem Thunder, the ruler of Galanlati called a meeting to discuss ways the overcrowding might be resolved.
"What about the sea below?" chirped Water Beetle.
